Workshop description:

One of life's inevitabilities is change - sometimes we willingly invite it into our lives, more often there is a shift in our world outside of our control that alters our trajectory when we least expect it. How can we use poetry to explore and potentially navigate the unpredictable and choppy waters of these changes - from births to deaths, weddings to separations, health to sickness? Can we find a new language to process these inescapable events? Join me for this workshop where we think about change through poetry and maybe even find ways to accept it.

Victoria Kennefick's debut poetry collection, Eat or We Both Starve (Carcanet, 2021), won the Seamus Heaney First Collection Poetry Prize 2022 and the Dalkey Book Festival Emerging Writer of the Year Award 2022. It was shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Prize, the Costa Poetry Book Award, Derek Walcott Prize for Poetry and the Butler Literary Prize. Victoria is UCD/Arts Council of Ireland Writer-in-Residence 2023 and Poet-in-Residence at the Yeats Society Sligo. Her second collection will be published by Carcanet Press in early 2024.
