Story is more than plot. The lyric narrative poem inhabits the space where memory, image and emotion become a way of telling, allowing fragmentation, leaps, accumulative sequencing, and moments of revelation to carry a reader as surely as chronology. In this workshop, we'll explore how contemporary poets such as Selima Hill, Ocean Vuong, Kim Addonizio, and Layli Long Solider weave narrative through lyric intensity, discovering how voice, structure and image can transform lived experience into poems that are both expansive and deeply felt. Through close reading and generative writing, you'll experiment with new approaches to storytelling that embrace ambiguity, surprise, and resonance. Expect to leave with a clutch of new, daring, and transformative poems.
